• Dieser Beitrag diskutiert das Verhältnis des soziolinguistischen Konzepts der Kontextualisierung von Sprache, so wie es Gumperz entwickelt hat, und vergleichbaren Überlegungen im konversationsanalytischen Forschungszusammenhang. Die soziolinguistische Kontextualisierungsvorstellung wird hinsichtlich ihrer zentralen Theoriebestandteile, ihrer theoretisch-methodischen Homogenität und ihrer Gegenstandsspezifik diskutiert und in bezug auf diese Aspekte mit Kontext- und Kontextualisierungsentwürfen der Konversationsanalyse kontrastiert. Dabei werden die exklusiv suprasegmentale Kontextualisierungskonzeption von Auer und der rhetorik-analytische Kontextualisierungsentwurf von Kallmeyer/Schmitt als konversationsanalytische Adaptionsmöglichkeiten und Neukonzeptionen des originär soziolinguistischen Grundgedankens dargestellt.
• This article contains a discussion of the relationship between the sociolinguistic concept of the contextualisation of language, as developed by Gumperz, and comparable considerations in research on discourse analysis. The sociolinguistic concept of contextualisation is examined with specific reference to its central theoretical elements, its theoretical and methodical homogeneity and its specific object. These aspects are then contrasted with the treatm ent of context and contextualisation in discourse analysis. Auer’s exclusively suprasegmental concept of contextualisation and the rhetoric-based approach of Kallmeyer/Schmitt are portrayed as possible ways in which the original sociolinguistic idea could be adaptated and integrated into discourse analysis.
