Dieser Beitrag stellt das Forschungs- und Lehrkorpus Gesprochenes Deutsch (FOLK) und die Datenbank für Gesprochenes Deutsch (DGD) als Instrumente gesprächsanalytischer Arbeit vor. Nach einer allgemeinen Einführung in FOLK und DGD im zweiten Abschnitt werden im dritten Abschnitt die methodischen Beziehungen zwischen Korpuslinguistik und Gesprächsforschung und die Herausforde-rungen, die sich bei der Begegnung dieser beiden Herangehensweisen an authenti-sches Sprachmaterial stellen, kurz skizziert. Der vierte Abschnitt illustriert dann ausgehend vom Beispiel der Formel ich sag mal, wie eine korpus- und datenbankgesteuerte Analyse zur Untersuchung von Gesprächsphänomenen beitragen kann.
This paper is about the workflow for construction and dissemination of FOLK (Forschungs - und Lehrkorpus Gesprochenes Deutsch – Research and Teaching Corpus of Spoken German), a large corpus of authentic spoken interaction data, recorded on audio and video. Section 2 describes in detail the tools used in the individual steps of transcription, anonymization, orthographic normalization, lemmatization and POS tagging of the data, as well as some utilities used for corpus management. Section 3 deals with the DGD (Datenbank für Gesprochenes Deutsch - Database of Spoken German) as a tool for distributing completed data sets and making them available for qualitative and quantitative analysis. In section 4, some plans for further development are sketched.
The paper presents practices in the compilation of FOLK, the Research and Teaching Corpus of Spoken German, a large collection of spontaneous verbal interaction from diverse discourse domains. After introducing the aims and organisational circumstances of the construction of FOLK, the general idea discussed is that good practices cannot be developed without considering methodological, technological and organisational aspects on equal footing. Starting from this idea, this paper inspects more closely some actual practices in FOLK, namely the handling of legal (especially privacy protection) issues, the decisions taken for the transcription and annotation workflow, and the question of how to best disseminate a corpus like FOLK. The final section sketches some possible future improvements for practices in FOLK.
Researchers interested in the sounds of speech or the physical gestures of Speakers make use of audio and video recordings in their work. Annotating these recordings presents a different set of requirements to the annotation of text. Special purpose tools have been developed to display video and audio Signals and to allow the creation of time-aligned annotations. This chapter reviews the most widely used of these tools for both manual and automatic generation of annotations on multimodal data.
Das Archiv für Gesprochenes Deutsch (AGD, Stift/Schmidt 2014) am Institut für Deutsche Sprache ist die zentrale Sammelstelle für Korpora des Gesprochenen Deutsch. Gegründet als Deutsches Spracharchiv (DSAv) im Jahre 1932 hat es über Eigenprojekte, Kooperationen und Übernahmen von Daten aus abgeschlossenen Forschungsprojekten einen Bestand von etwa 50 Variations- und Gesprächskorpora aufgebaut. Heute ist dieser Bestand fast vollständig digitalisiert und wird zu einem großen Teil der wissenschaftlichen Gemeinschaft über die Datenbank für Gesprochenes Deutsch (DGD) im Internet zur Nutzung in Forschung und Lehre angeboten.
We present an approach to making existing CLARIN web services usable for spoken language transcriptions. Our approach is based on a new TEI-based ISO standard for such transcriptions. We show how existing tool formats can be transformed to this standard, how an encoder/decoder pair for the TCF format enables users to feed this type of data through a WebLicht tool chain, and why and how web services operating directly on the standard format would be useful.
We present a study on gaps in spoken language interaction as a potential candidate for syntactic boundaries. On the basis of an online annotation experiment, we can show that there is an effect of gap duration and gap type on its likelihood of being a syntactic boundary. We discuss the potential of these findings for an automation of the segmentation process.
This presentation introduces a new collaborative project: the International Comparable Corpus (ICC) (https://korpus.cz/icc), to be compiled from European national, standard(ised) languages, using the protocols for text categories and their quantities of texts in the International Corpus of English (ICE).
We present a method for detecting and reconstructing separated particle verbs in a corpus of spoken German by following an approach suggested for written language. Our study shows that the method can be applied successfully to spoken language, compares different ways of dealing with structures that are specific to spoken language corpora, analyses some remaining problems, and discusses ways of optimising precision or recall for the method. The outlook sketches some possibilities for further work in related areas.
