The focus of organizations' internal communication and collaboration infra-structures has recently been extended from conventional intranets to enterprise social software platforms (ESSPs). However, as ESSPs rely on content creation and interaction through users, many platforms struggle. Previous research suggests that organizational climate plays an important role during IS adoption. Accordingly, our study quantitatively explores the influence of organizational climate on both contributive ESSP usage (knowledge sharing) and consumptive ESSP usage (knowledge consumption). Our results indicate that organizational climate - measured by the dimensions of trust, collaboration norms, and community identification - influences employees' ESSP usage behaviors to a certain extent. In addition, collaboration norms appear to have a stronger impact on consumptive ESSP usage than on contributive ESSP usage. Lastly, trust was found to primarily support consumptive ESSP usage, not contributive usage.
Corpus query tools are crucial to CLARIN’s mission of facilitating the sharing and using language data for research. It is a huge challenge for online corpus platforms to manage user access rights for large corpora with complex licenses and heterogeneous restrictions on access methods and purposes. This paper presents an approach to maximize user access to corpus data while protecting rights holders’ legitimate interests. Query rewriting techniques and authorization procedures allow for modelling license terms in details, enabling broader applications. This offers an alternative to methods that only model a greatest common denominator of licenses, thereby limiting the possibilities for using the data. Our approach constitutes a flexible and extensible corpus license and user rights management component applicable for other language research environments.
This paper introduces LRTwiki, an improved variant of the Likelihood Ratio Test (LRT). The central idea of LRTwiki is to employ a comprehensive domain specific knowledge source as additional “on-topic” data sets, and to modify the calculation of the LRT algorithm to take advantage of this new information. The knowledge source is created on the basis of Wikipedia articles. We evaluate on the two related tasks product feature extraction and keyphrase extraction, and find LRTwiki to yield a significant improvement over the original LRT in both tasks.
In this article, we describe a user support solution for the digital humanities. As a case study, we show the development of the CLARIN-D Helpdesk from 2013 into the current support solution that has been extended for several other CLARIN-related software and projects and the DARIAH-ERIC. Furthermore, we describe a way towards a common support platform for CLARIAH-DE, which is currently in the final phase. We hope to further expand the help desk in the following years in order to act as a hub for user support and a central knowledge resource for the digital humanities not only in the German, but also in the European area and perhaps at some point worldwide.
Vernetzung statt Vereinheitlichung. Digitale Forschungsinfrastrukturen in den Geisteswissenschaften
(2014)
