Hess-ISCH. Dialektaler Sprachwandel analysiert mit den Ressourcen von regionalsprache.de
- This article provides an overview of the numerous resources offered by regionalsprache.de and the REDE SprachGIS and how, through the material and tools offered on these platforms, dialectal language change can be studied on a large scale from the end of the 19th until the beginning of the 21st century. This is demonstrated by a case study that concerns itself with the pronunciation of the coda of ich in Hessian dialects. Through the combination of several corpora that are based on the so-called Wenker sentences, the change in pronunciation can be observed in real time from the 19th century onward. In addition, data from the REDE-Neuerhebung corpus that is comprised of speakers of three generations are used to analyze the phenomenon in apparent time. Finally, additional survey data regarding the speakers’ dialect competence from the REDE-Infothek are taken into account to present a multi-faceted view of the change in pronunciation.
