• Dieser Beitrag stellt ein methodisches Vorgehen zur Untersuchung lexikalisch-semantischer Zweifelsfälle mit semantischen Ähnlichkeiten vor, mit dem man zu einer klaren Unterscheidung dieser gelangt und ein besseres Verständnis vom kontextsensitiven Verhalten verwechselbarer Ausdrücke erhält. Am Beispiel des Wortpaars vegan/vegetarisch soll demonstriert werden, wie die semantisch-diskursiven Unterschiede und Ähnlichkeiten lexikalisch-semantischer Zweifelsfälle mittels kontrastiver korpuslinguistischer Methoden analysiert werden können. Anhand einer Kookkurrenzanalyse und der Interpretation von Self-Organising-Maps wird die Verwendung der beiden Adjektive in realen Kontexten untersucht. Alle nötigen Analyseschritte und Interpretationsvorgänge werden der Reihe nach vorgestellt, sodass der Beitrag eine praktische Einführung in die Arbeit mit verschiedenen Werkzeugen bietet. Die daraus entstehenden gebrauchsorientierten Bedeutungsprofile der Ausdrücke ermöglichen eine kontrastive Betrachtung und bieten eine wertvolle Hilfestellung sowohl für den Fremdspracherwerb als auch für die lexikografische Praxis.
• This article presents a methodological approach for analysing formally similar words with lexical-semantic similarities to ensure a clear distinction and a better understanding of the context-sensitive behaviour of easily confusable words. Using the example of the semantically related word pair vegan/vegetarian, it is demonstrated how the semantic-discursive differences and similarities of words with lexical-semantic overlaps can be analysed using contrastive corpus-linguistic methods. The use of the two adjectives in real contexts is examined through a co-occurrence analysis and the interpretation of Self-Organising Maps. All necessary analytical steps and interpretative processes are presented in sequence, providing the contribution with a practical introduction to working with various tools. The resulting usage-based meaning profiles provide a basis for a contrastive study and offer valuable support for both, foreign language acquisition and lexicographical practice.
