20 Jahre Wortwarte. Wie alles anfing (und endete)
- Vor nun 23 Jahren, im September 2000, starteten Tylman Ule und ich ein kleines Projekt zur Ermittlung neuer Wörter auf der Basis von Texten im World Wide Web. So konnte letztendlich die Wortschatzentwicklung der ersten zwanzig Jahre des neuen Jahrtausends aufgezeichnet werden. In diesem Aufsatz beschreibe ich noch einmal unser Vorgehen und ziehe eine quantitative und qualitative Bilanz des Projekts. Ein Fazit nach 20 Jahren ist, dass das Konzept „Neologismus“ nach wie vor nur vage zu umreißen ist.
- In the year 2000, now 23 years ago, my colleague Tylman Ule and I launched a project with the objective to retrieve new words from data that have been crawled on a daily basis from the World Wide Web. As a result, the 20-year-lasting efforts led to a collection that depicts the development of German vocabulary during the first twenty years of the new millenium. In this paper I summarize the results of this project, quantitatively as well as qualitatively. One conclusion to be drawn is that the concept of “neologism” can still not be defined precisely.
