N2  - In dieser Studie wollen wir nachweisen, daß es für die in der Wortbildungsforschung hartnäckig postulierte Existenz zweier eindeutig distinkter Kategorien ‘Kopulativkompositum’ und ‘Determinativkompositum' innerhalb der N-N-Komposita des Deutschen weder im Sprachsystem noch im Sprachgebrauch irgendeine Evidenz gibt. Vielmehr läßt sich zeigen, daß ‘Kopulativkomposita’ in ihren morphosyntaktischen und semantischen Eigenschaften problemlos mit den auch für Determinativkomposita geltenden Kriterien beschrieben werden können, und daß - gezeigt an einem Test - für Sprecher des Deutschen eine eigene Kategorie ‘Kopulativkompositum’ nicht existiert.
N2  - In this study we wish to show that there is no evidence for a differentiation between nominal copulative compounds and determinative compounds either in the linguistic system or in the use o f the German language. Indeed, our results indicate that by remaining within the terms o f description o f determinative compounds a more adequate description o f the morphosyntactic and semantic properties o f the so called copulative compounds can be obtained. Additionally, an experiment confirms the non-existence o f the category ‘copulative-compound’ for native speakers o f German.
