Despite efforts made in recent decades to include in pedagogical dictionaries more detailed, structured information linked to the combinatory potential of the lexicon, recent empirical evidence has shown that correct and appropriate complementation remains one of the main unresolved issues in the acquisition of an L2. On the basis of such observations, the article begins from two hypotheses that relate empirical data, on the one hand, to the specific inadequacies of lexicographical works, and on the other, to the lack of the necessary lexical competence of the majority of users in properly interpreting the information available. In order to contribute to a substantial improvement in the treatment of complementation in the bilingual lexicography of the German and Spanish language pair, the article is structured around the following three objectives: (i) a description and analysis of current lexicography based on examples selected from monolingual and bilingual lexicographical works representative of the fields of the acquisition of Spanish and German as foreign languages, (ii) a description of current needs and alternatives in light of the challenges of new technologies, and (iii) a presentation of some future possibilities to promote not only the development of resources and suitable technological systems that can serve as tools for lexical-grammatical consultation within processes of the (de)codification of a foreign language, but also greater lexical competence in learning environments.}, language = {es} }
